Brianna Robinson: South Africa’s New U/19 Squash Champion

Brianna Robinson has officially reached the top of South African squash, winning the 2026 Growthpoint South African Junior Nationals U/19 women’s title in Cape Town.

The Joburg Squash star produced a performance filled with determination, composure and fighting spirit to defeat Northerns’ Elzandri Janse van Rensburg 3–2 in a thrilling final at Makers Landing at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday, 15 August.

For Robinson, this was more than just another tournament victory. It was the culmination of years of hard work and a goal she had been chasing since first competing at the national championships.

“This has been a big goal for me since I started playing this tournament, so I’m very proud to have got the win.”

The result is particularly impressive given the strength of the opposition. Janse van Rensburg entered the championships as a proven junior champion, having won the U/17 national title in both 2024 and 2025.

Robinson, however, saved her best squash for when it mattered most.

More Than a Trophy

What makes Robinson’s achievement so special is the journey behind it.

Winning a national championship requires far more than talent. It takes countless hours on court, physical preparation, discipline, resilience and the ability to handle pressure when everything is on the line.

Robinson demonstrated all of those qualities in Cape Town.

After the final, she also highlighted the people around her who had helped make the achievement possible, expressing her gratitude to everyone who had supported her throughout the past few years.

That attitude is perhaps one of the most exciting things about Brianna’s success. The trophy represents the achievement, but the character she showed in earning it is what could take her even further.

One to Watch

At just the beginning of what could be a very exciting squash career, Brianna Robinson is certainly a name South African squash fans should remember.

A national U/19 title is a major achievement, but the manner in which she won it makes the result even more impressive. Coming back from 2–1 down in a national final against one of the country's strongest players shows that Robinson has the mental toughness to match her technical ability.

With this title now added to her résumé, the next chapter of her squash journey promises to be an exciting one.

Congratulations to Brianna Robinson on becoming the 2026 South African U/19 Squash Champion!

This is only the beginning, and Brianna Robinson is definitely one to watch. 🏆🎾
